Google's Motorola acquisition finally approved

By on 18:04

Just as they said they would, the European Commission yesterday reviewed the case between Google and the mobile division of Motorola, and has cleared the merger. The Department of Justice's Antitrust Division followed suit close behind and dropped its investigation, effectively legalizing the deal in the United States. Both the EC and DoJ worked in close conjunction during their respective investigations, so it is no surprise that these announcements arrived so close together.

Motorola might show an Intel-powered droid at the MWC

By on 17:50

We've already seen the first phone powered by Intel's Medfield mobile x86 chipset and now rendered images of Motorola droid phone bring their promise of their own Medfield phone closer to reality.
Motorola announced they will be making an Intel-powered phones at CES and now rumor has it that we’ll see the first of those showcased at the next major tech event, the Mobile World Congress.

We don't know much about the phone aside that it will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (that will make it Moto's first phone with ICS out of the box) and that it will have interface customizations by Motorola.
The phone will reportedly have an instant-on feature (something along the lines of HTC's Fast Boot) and its camera will be capable of 15fps burst capture.

GPP SIM insert unlocks the AT&T iPhone 4S, no jailbreak needed

By on 17:49

The carrier-locked iPhones became a much lesser problem since the iPhone hit most of the major carriers worldwide. But there are those people who still buy foreign carrier-locked iPhone for various reasons. Most of the locked iPhones come from USA's AT&T, so the GPP SIM tool should be good news for those people.
The GPP SIM tool reportedly unlocks successfully every AT&T-bound iPhone 4S as well as the Japan's KDDI and Softbank iPhone 4S. As with similar solutions such as Gevey and RebelSIM, you just put your SIM along with the insert into the provided SIM tray

HTC Sense 4.0 screenshots leak through Endeavor RUU

By on 04:23

The folks at Android Central managed to get their hands on a RUU (ROM Update Utility) for the HTC Endeavor and extracted dozens of screenshots for the upcoming version of HTC's Android skin, Sense 4.0, which will be running on top of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Although we have seen Sense 4.0 once before in a video, these screenshots give a clearer view of the interface. What you see below are screenshots of some of the built-in themes in preview mode, where you can see how the

LG Optimus 3D 2 photo surfaces, some specs in tow

By on 04:12

The LG Optimus 3D was the star on the LG booth on last year's MWC and it appears its successor will be the key announcement this year. We just got the first photo of the LG Optimus 3D 2 and it's even garnished with some specs.
The LG Optimus 3D 2 will, reportedly, be using a higher resolution IPS screen than its predecessor. Given that this will be the company's next flagship, we are almost certain that it will feature the HD AH-IPS display we know from the LG Optimus LTE.
The Optimus 3D 2 is also said to be considerably slimmer than its predecessor at 9.8mm and at least 20 g lighter. Given that its chubby body was one of the main issues with the original Optimus 3D, this can only be good news for the LG Optimus 3D 2.
The MWC kicks off in exactly two weeks, so we should soon find out if those rumors are true soon enough.

While some features remain the same, such as the 10-band equalizer, the homescreen is now customizable. Nullsoft has also added features such as Wireless syncing. Looking at the screenshots

By on 07:00

It seems making cars has gotten too boring and automakers want to dabble in smartphones now. After Nissan forayed into the smartphone category with its self-healing iPhone case, now its Buick’s turn. Buick, though has come out with a hidden motive, well it serves it purpose by giving you smartphone games that teach you to save fuel.

To be honest, Buick’s smartphone games are hardly expected to provide the adrenaline rush that comes from Need for Speed or Road rage. But that’s not the point. These are efficiency games that teach how to save fuel in which end up in saving the environment as well as a chunk of your money. And they are free for Android/iOS. The games promote Buick’s new models Regal and Lacrosse eAssist, while taking your mileage to the max.
