HTC launches One (M8 EYE), Desire EYE, and RE in India

HTC has launched a bevy of devices in India. The first of the lot is the new HTC One (M8 EYE), which was recently launched in China. The M8 EYE is essentially the same as the M8 but replaces the 4 UltraPixel camera on the back with 13 megapixel camera. The HTC One (M8 EYE) is priced at Rs. 38,990.

Three UK will carry the new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3

Apple iPad pre-orders start today and the UK is in the first wave of launches. You can get a 4G-enabled iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 3 from the UK section of the Apple store (they'll ship by next Friday) but in terms of carriers Three UK is the first to announce it will offer the tablet too.
There are no prices as of yet, but the official no-contract pricing starts at £500 for the Apple iPad Air 2Wi-Fi + Wireless and £420 for the iPad mini 3 Wi-Fi + Wireless. Be warned through, the new mini is a tiny, tiny upgrade (all you really get is Touch ID), so you might be better off picking up an iPad mini 2 at £340.

New Android Lollipop developer preview and SDK now out

Google has now outed updated Android 5.0 Lollipop preview images for both the Nexus 5 and the 2013 Nexus 7. The new developer preview is based on build LPX13D.
The original developer preview for what was then only known as Android L was announced back in June. The images were updated once in the meantime, in August, when they received support for Google Fit.

HTC Desire 510 lands at Sprint on September 19

Sprint has announced that the HTC Desire 510 is officially coming to its stores. Furthermore, the launch will happen later this week - on Friday, September 19 to be precise.



That's when you'll be able to get a Desire 510 from Sprint for $199.99 outright (plus taxes). Alternatively, you can go the route of Sprint's Easy Pay installment scheme, which lets you shell out $0 (plus tax) upfront, then followed by 24 monthly payments of $8.34.

Custom firmware brings iOS 7 features to really old iPhones

iOS has a growing developer community and while it's very far from the jungle of custom ROMs available for Android, here's a start. The Whited00r firmware brings iOS 7 look and feel to devices that are no longer supported by Apple.
The supported devices include the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G, the first and second-generation iPod touch. The related Grayd00r project supports the third-get iPod Touch and the original iPad.

Apple tipped to bring home automation features to iPhone

According to a report in the Financial Times, Apple will bring home automation features to the iPhonefamily. The Cupertino giant is expected to showcase the new functionality at WWDC which kicks off next week, on June 2.
The new functionality will allow iOS users to control home features such as security systems, lighting fixtures, and appliances. NFC, a long-rumored feature which is set to arrive in the next iPhone could be utilized to connect the handset with the aforementioned home fixtures.

ASUS PadFone gets laptop mode again

Remember the days of transformer devices? The Motorola Atrix started it off with their laptop dock (which wasn’t that hot of a seller) and then ASUS stepped up their game with the PadFone; which was a smartphone, tablet, and laptop all-in-one.
For a while though, the PadFone dropped the laptop functionality, and it looks like ASUS has decided to bring it back with their upcoming PadFone devices.

It looks like the news that the Nokia X achieved 1 million pre-orders in China is false.
RetailerJD.com set up a contest where participants could hit a “pre-order” button for a chance to win a Nokia X. The pre-orders didn't require you to register with the site or put any money down, which is not the norm for China.

Sony Xperia M2 pricing details revealed in Netherlands

Details on the pricing of the freshly announced Sony Xperia M2 made the rounds in Netherlands. The mid-range device is said to launch in April for €289.
The smartphone will be offered with free multimedia content when available. It will include three Sony Pictures movie downloads and a free month of Music Unlimited streaming which gives access to over 25 million songs.
